{Party} Little Men 2nd Birthday Celebration

This past Friday, my little dudes turned 2!  I can hardy believe that 720-some days have come and gone so quickly.   Yes, during those multiple, early-on, late night feedings time seemed to drag, but thousands of bottles and sippie cups later, we have reached another milestone.
Two.
Amazing.
I came up with the idea of a Little Men themed party because, well, Dan and I refer to Wesley and Andrew as our 'little men.'  I wanted all-things-grown-up; bowties, hats, suspenders, glasses and most importantly, mustaches.  Who doesn't love a good mustache?
I have to take a moment to thank my childhood bestie Kim of the TomKat Studio for capturing my vision and designing the perfect invitation and cupcake toppers for the event.  She is beyond sweet, and is an amazing party planner and designer.  If you haven't checked out her blog or etsy shop of do-it-yourself printable party files, you are missing out!  She does all the amazing work, and all you have to do is the printing and cutting.  Easy Peasy!

I got the idea for the 'bunting' from the party blogosphere.  I took a ton of pics of the boys, printed out my faves and glued mustaches to them.  Attach yarn and Viola!
There were plenty of snacks and goodies to go on the table.  Cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, a veggie tray (had to squeeze something healthy in there!), the cake and the mustache cookie favors.

I ventured into cake-making for the first time:  A delicious (whew!) two-layer buttercream cake (homemade frosting, box cake) with chocolate fondant mustaches (created from a leaf-shaped cutter) adhered to the sides. The cake was topped with a mini-chevron banner that I improvised from the bottom of the invitation!  It sat upon a bright orange hatbox to create some additional height on the table.
I created several mustache props to go on the table, as well as some for a prop box for a make-shift photo booth.  So. Much. Fun.

(Yes, the adults had a blast at the party!!)

After practicing with me for weeks, the boys finally had everyone sing Happy Birthday to them. They loved it!
Every. Single. Note.
Their faces lit up with excitement, and Andrew actually blew out the candle all by himself!!  Wes provided some backup air of his own ;)

Being sung to.  I absolutely LOVE this photo!

My little boys are two... TWO!  I can't believe it.  Happy Birthday, babies.  They had a great time at their party playing dress-up and playing with the gazillion trains they got (their latest passion).  Looks like I already have a theme for next years party... All Aboard!
