Reading with Daddy

How cute are these photos?
I don't really need to write anything.
You get the drift.
Just some quiet time before beddie, reading with Daddy.

  2. So sweet! Mine are still so busy. They listen for about 20 seconds and are off to find something else. I hope to have pictures of my girls reading with daddy like this someday soon. Keep up the great pictures, they give me hope. :)

  3. CITM - Me too, me too. :)

Sara - Believe me, this is a RARE occasion in our house. Wesley is constantly bringing me books, getting my hopes up that he'll sit in my lap for more than 20 seconds while I read to him, but then he takes off. That is why I just had to capture this moment. BOTH of them. Sitting still... I'd strongly suggest getting some books with pop-ups or pull tabs. They won't last long, but at least the ripping and tearing of paper seems to keep their interest moreso than actually hearing a story!

  4. These pictures are priceless! :) :)

I have found that I've been able to hold the girls' attention longer by experimenting with the types of books I am reading. For a while they were only into looking at pictures, so we used those nice picture books with one word. We gradually added in some basic story books. And now - just over the past couple of weeks - our girls are content (relatively speaking!) to sit and listen to a story, at least a few times a day.

They're still so rough on books, though. For a long time books were part of our play space, but now - unfortunately - I keep them in another room and bring them in one at a time, and only when I'm there to directly supervise. Otherwise they don't last long. :(

On that note, though, have you ever checked out the books at Target for $1 (in the dollar section at the front of the store)? We have quite a few, and it's not as big of a deal if they get shredded. :)

  5. Very cute! There is just something wonderful about seeing a man bond with his children... Warms the heart!
